This May, Microsoft announced that the software suite known as “Office 365 ProPlus” will be renamed to “Microsoft 365 Apps.” The names of the individual apps, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, will remain the same.

On June 18, UWM Windows computers will begin receiving monthly updates for Microsoft 365 Apps using the Current Channel.

Microsoft also updated their recommendations about update frequency for these apps. Previously, Microsoft recommended updating the apps twice per year using their “Semi-Annual Update Channel”. The new recommendation is that most users should receive monthly updates to their apps using the “Current Update Channel.” This will help users take advantage of the newest features as soon as they are released.

The updates will install automatically when your apps are not in use. If updates are unable to install because the apps have remained open, you will be prompted that an update is available and that the application needs to be closed to complete the installation. Please allow these updates to install as soon as your work permits.
