Fourth of July Device Safety

Happy Independence Day, Panthers! As we get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July, let’s not forget to keep our technology safe.

Here are four tips to make sure your devices are ready for the Fourth:

  1. Secure your devices:

With more people out celebrating, there is a higher risk of theft. Make sure to use strong passwords and enable location tracking services on your phone like Android Device Manager and Find my iPhone.

  1. Protect against the Heat:

You know it’s important to protect yourself from the heat by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated, but did you know your devices also feel exhausted from the heat? Protect your devices from high temperatures by keeping them out of direct sunlight and avoid leaving them in hot cars.

  1. Wi-Fi Safety:

Cybercriminals can use public Wi-Fi to steal your personal data. Protect your independence; don’t connect to public Wi-Fi networks.

  1. Stay Charged:

Make sure you charge your devices before you leave to celebrate. Portable power banks can also come in handy for those low battery moments.

How ever you choose to celebrate, make sure to stay safe and keep your devices protected! We hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July holiday!
