A Strong Partnership with Milwaukee Athletics
Our program students work closely with UW-Milwaukee Athletics, and benefit from instruction and hands-on experience working with our NCAA Division 1 athletes across multiple sports. Athlete performance testing, including isometric force and force plates, athlete monitoring and programming represent an opportunity for students to apply knowledge gained under direct supervision.
The Strength and Conditioning Concentration empowers students to become effective strength and conditioning specialists. The program offers in-depth, evidence-based instruction in fitness assessment, program development, implementation and evaluation. It also covers performance physiology, psychological factors affecting performance, sports nutrition, and guided experiences in understanding and keeping up to date with the science of strength and conditioning.
Students benefit from a blend of classroom learning and extensive hands-on experience, totaling 450-600 hours under the supervision of National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Registered and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (RSCS/CSCS). Students will be exposed to and use advanced performance evaluation technologies and conduct on-going assessments for Division I athletes in various collegiate sports. The program also assists students with membership to NSCA and with registration and costs to successfully pass the NSCA CSCS certification exam.
