Heather Maus

Heather Maus has dedicated over 15 years of distinguished service to the UW-Milwaukee Police Department. Throughout her career, she has held the ranks of Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and currently serves as the department’s Operations Captain.

As a Police Officer, Heather contributed to patrol operations, served as a Police Training Officer, and worked as an investigator. In 2016, she was promoted to Sergeant, where she supervised patrol teams and led key departmental programs including the Sensitive Crimes Team, Field Training Program, and Safe Walkers initiative.

Her leadership continued to grow with her promotion to Lieutenant in 2023, overseeing both day and night shift patrol operations. In her current role as Captain, she manages operations and plays a vital role in departmental strategy and coordination.

Heather is also a certified LESB instructor, specializing in Professional Communications, and is committed to enhancing officer development and departmental excellence.

Heather holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She has attended numerous professional development and leadership trainings including Leadership in Police Organization, Executive Leadership, and Women in Leadership. Heather is also one of the department's Peer Officer Support Team members.
