Award-winning UWM alumna inspires next generation of occupational therapists

Shannon Levandowski (’02 BS Occupational Therapy) is passionate about making an impact on the lives of her students while furthering the field of occupational therapy. The nation’s first-person to be board-certified in both pediatrics and school systems, she credits her time at UWM with providing a great foundation for her to transition into her full-time faculty role at Texas Woman’s University. Now, as an award-winning educator, she partners with HopeKids of North Texas to create experiences for students that help them understand how having a child with medical needs impacts the family’s ability to engage in activities with the community, and the difference that they can make. Levandowski is proud to see students following in the footsteps of her leaders while becoming the next generation of occupational therapists. She received the UWM Alumni Association’s 2022 Distinguished Alumni Achievement award.
