The UWM Undergraduate Research Symposium will be held this year in conjunction with a celebration of UWM achieving the highest rating for research from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education for a third consecutive time.
Both will be held Friday, April 29, in the UWM Student Union Ballroom. The symposium will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the R1 celebration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
UWM’s annual undergraduate research symposium celebrates the collaborations of undergraduate students with research-active faculty and staff across all of our schools and colleges. Over 250 students will give oral and poster presentations sharing outcomes of their work. The event is free and open to the public.
The symposium will flow into the R1 celebration. Remarks by UWM Chancellor Mark Mone and other campus leaders will begin at noon.
The R1 classification places UWM among the world’s leading institutions of research. Just 146 of the 3,298 institutions considered by Carnegie placed in its “highest research activity” category.
