UWM Transportation Services is upgrading all parking equipment in all gated garages. This includes the entry/exit machines and pay stations.
Which garages are affected?
All gated parking garages are affected, including:
- Kenilworth
- Lubar
- NWQ
- Pavilion/Klotsche
- RiverView
- Union
Who is affected?
Anyone who parks at any of the above locations will be affected.
I have an annual, monthly or semester permit. How does this affect me?
You can scan your PantherCard at the entrance and exit machines to raise the gate. Per rule 2.1.4 of our regulations, you must have your PantherCard or prox card at all times to use the garage.
You may be used to having the gate open automatically after the cameras read your vehicle’s license plate. However, due to the upgrade, our license plate recognition cameras may be offline for some time as we configure the new system. We apologize for any inconvenience.
If you have any issues, you can press the help button to get assistance from our trained call center representatives.
I pay for parking by the day or hour. How does this affect me?
Customers without permits take a ticket on entry. Before or on exit, they scan the QR code with their phone or at the machine instead of inserting the ticket, and then the payment options appear.
Parkmobile will be discontinued at the gated garages. The new system allows you to pay via your smartphone without needing any apps.
Debit users will have their balances transferred to the new system later this month. You would continue to use your PantherCard to scan in and out of the garage.
Departments will be able to create validations and parking passes for their guests online. Transportation Services will contact them with login instructions and provide training later this month.
If you have any issues, you can press the help button to get assistance.
When is this upgrade happening?
The upgrade is currently underway. We are switching out machines one by one, and no garage has been entirely switched over to the new system. There will be signage as well as cones/caution tape to indicate when a machine or lane is closed. We do not anticipate closing a garage due to the upgrade. Please obey any posted signage about closures or detours within the garages.
Why is this upgrade happening?
Our new cloud-based system will offer improvements, including fewer equipment breakdowns, improved customer call center support and more mobile-friendly payment options.
