The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been ranked among the top 10 online medical sonography programs in the country.

UWM’s program landed at No. 8 in the ranking by College Choice, an independent online publication dedicated to helping students and their families find the right college.

The publication praised UWM’s program as “one of the most flexible programs we evaluated.”

The sonography program is part of the UW System’s Flexible Option. Aimed at working adults, the UW Flexible Option program allows students to study at their own pace, not tied to the traditional semester system. Students advance as quickly as they prefer, with progress achieved by passing competency assessments.

Depending on the student’s prior knowledge and motivation, the program can be completed quicker and at lower cost than many traditional programs.
