An updated “Faculty and Staff Suicide Prevention Training: Recognize, Respond, Refer” is available for all UWM faculty and staff.
The Student Health and Wellness Center introduced this online training for faculty and staff in 2023, and this new version includes updated and additional data, guidance and resources for you to better support student mental health on campus. We encourage faculty and staff to enroll in the training and share this information with your unit or department.
This training is designed for anyone who advises, teaches, supervises or supports students, and it is one concrete action you can take to better support your students. The online training takes around one hour to complete, and you can start, stop and return to it on your own time.
SHAW also offers a Part 2 discussion session that builds on the foundational online training by focusing on skills-based practice, scenario discussions and campus-specific resource/referral information. After completing the online training, you can enroll in a scheduled Part 2 session or reach out to schedule one for your unit or department.
Thank you for your support of student mental health on campus!
