As fall begins, UWM’s Neighborhood Housing Office offers students several tips and reminders about maintaining your property:

• The City of Milwaukee asks that you rake your leaves into the street. Be sure to leave a one-foot gap between the leaves and the curb.
• Trash should only be disposed of in waste receptacles. Trash and recycling bins should be at the curb only on your pickup day, and then returned to their storage location.
• Indoor furniture such as couches should not be placed outdoors — that will attract pests and rodents.
• Grills and fire pits should not be placed on balconies or porches because it’s a fire hazard.
• The City of Milwaukee does not allow any signage or banners on your property.
