Suicide Prevention Awareness Day on Campus is September 25

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, join the UWM community on Thursday, Sept. 25, in Spaights Plaza for Suicide Prevention Awareness Day. The day is a time to spread hope, raise awareness, show support and share vital information for those affected by suicide. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.

Schedule of Events:

  • 1-3 p.m.: Mental Health Resource Fair in Spaights Plaza
  • 3-3:30 p.m.: Speaker Mikey Cody Apollo
  • 3:30-4 p.m.: Community Walk (approximately 1-mile loop)
  • 4-5 p.m.: Community Hour in Spaights Plaza

In addition, the UWM Student Health and Wellness Center (SHAW) will be offering student bystander intervention trainings on suicide prevention called “You Can Help! Prevent Suicide” on Oct. 1 and 2. Students can register for the training at this SHAW webpage.
