Title: Finding the Right Publication Venues: Journals, Conferences, and Beyond
Description:
Choosing the right publication venue is a critical step in developing your research profile as a doctoral student. This workshop will provide practical strategies for identifying journals and conferences that align with your work, as well as criteria for evaluating their quality and relevance. We will explore factors such as scope, impact, audience, indexing, and review practices, and discuss how to match your research with appropriate outlets. The session will also highlight warning signs of predatory journals and conferences, making suggestions to avoid them. By the end, you will be better prepared to navigate the scholarly publishing landscape and make informed decisions about where to share your research.

Title: Designing Interactive Learning Activities for Online and Onsite Classes
Description:
Effective teaching goes beyond delivering content, and it also involves creating opportunities for meaningful interaction. This workshop introduces strategies for designing class activities and assignments that foster engagement between instructors and students as well as collaboration among peers. We will explore approaches for both onsite and online environments, including but not limited to game-based exercises, group projects, peer feedback, and technology-enhanced activities. Participants will gain practical skills to design activities/assignments that encourage active learning, strengthen classroom community, and promote deeper understanding of course material.
