“In Wisconsin, we can create stronger economic growth and shared prosperity for our state if we make investments in higher education and advanced manufacturing, just like UW-Milwaukee’s Center for Advanced Materials Manufacturing,” Baldwin said. “Programs like this give students the ability to carry on our Wisconsin tradition of making things and help us build a stronger middle class in Wisconsin and America.”

Students in the College of Engineering and Applied Science greeted Baldwin during her tour and helped her pour a casting.

UWM has endorsed Baldwin’s Manufacturing Universities Act, which would designate 25 universities as “Manufacturing Universities” and provide incentives to better align educational offerings with manufacturers’ needs. The incentives would be used to bolster manufacturing engineering  programs and curricula related to targeted industries.
