The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved UWM’s plan to merge eight schools and colleges at the university into four new colleges.
Eight schools or colleges at UWM would merge to form four new colleges in a proposal expected to be reviewed this week by the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.
The new plan includes strategies to assess and align efforts throughout campus, provide ongoing professional development, and recruit diverse students, faculty and staff.
UWM has reached another milestone in helping build a more diverse workforce in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields.
Traditional textbooks sometimes costing hundreds of dollars represent a barrier to education for some students. An effort to combat that has saved UWM students $2.3 million over five years.
Work has started across UWM on implementing a comprehensive set of recommendations that campus leaders hope will shape the future of the university and help to weather a period of uncertainty in higher education overall.
