Registration open for GIS Day at UWM Nov. 15

The UWM GIS Council has again planned a full schedule of GIS Day activities on campus to showcase Milwaukee-area GIS projects and resources.

GIS — geographic information systems — are computer systems designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage and present geographical data.

GIS Day activities include hands-on workshops and presentations by area GIS professionals.

All sessions are free and open to the public, but registration is appreciated.

A luncheon will feature a keynote presentation by Mark Manone, of Northern Arizona University and the Power of Data Project. Manone’s talk is titled “Share Your Place, Share Your Space:  Reintroducing geospatial literacy from the top down, bottom up and side to side.”

If you are interested in presenting, you can still sign up for an Ignite session (pecha kucha) session or vendor/information table. Please contact Donna Genzmer as soon as possible at 414-229-4865 or dgs@uwm.edu.

Support of GIS day activities is also welcome. If you would like to make a donation, visit the online giving portal or email Genzmer.
