Peck School guitarist wins prestigious Schubert competition

Peck School of the Arts graduate student Evan Taucher won the top prize in the guitar category at the prestigious Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition.

Along with his first-place honors, Taucher earned $2,000 and the right to perform at a concert in 2017.

Taucher is from Tampa, Fla., and pursuing his master’s degree in music performance under the instruction of Rene Izquierdo, an associate professor of classical guitar.

The Schubert competition began in 1922 and is open to musical students from Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa.
