Panels to highlight careers in local government and language services

UWM students are invited to two opportunities to hear more about careers in local governments and in language services.

Careers in Local Government — Alumni Panel

When: Thursday, Nov. 2, 2-5 p.m.

Where: Lubar Entrepreneurship Center, Room 107. Register for free.

Hear from alumni of the UWM Master of Public Administration program about their professions and career paths. Speakers include representatives from the City of Racine, City of New Berlin, Village of Deerfield, City of Milwaukee, Village of Germantown, Village of Jackson and Village of Fox Point.

Networking will include campfire conversations where students will rotate tables to talk with different groups of professionals, Q&A sessions, and presentations about careers in environmental services, finance, fire/EMS, innovation, libraries, planning, recreation & parks, elected leadership, management and public safety.

Careers and Futures in Language Services

When: Friday, Nov. 3, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Where: Curtin Hall, Room 104, or register online.

Hélène Pielmeier, a UWM alum and senior analyst at CSA Research, will discuss the language services and technology market — and how careers are evolving for language professionals, including translators and interpreters.
