NMDSI Speaker Series on machine learning and economics is Nov. 6

The Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute (NMDSI) will host “Machine Learning Applications in Macroeconomic Forecasting: Evidence from Inflation and Housing Markets,” as part of its virtual NMDSI Speaker Series on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Hear from N. Kundan Kishor, professor and chair of the Department of Economics at UWM, and an NMDSI-affiliated faculty member, about how success in macro forecasting requires machine learning techniques with economic theory and institutional knowledge. Kishor will explore and highlight hybrid approaches that leverage both computational power and domain expertise to yield optimal results for policymakers and practitioners. This session will be moderated by Anyon Rettinger, events & special projects manager at NMDSI.
