MPS high school students honored for earning free college credits through M³ College Connections Program

MILWAUKEE_ Seventy-five seniors will be recognized for completing the M³ College Connections Program, a transformative dual-enrollment initiative from Milwaukee Public Schools, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Area Technical College. The graduation celebration will take place on Wednesday, June 4, at 4:30 p.m. at the UWM Welcome Center.

Media are invited to attend the event, which will feature remarks from MATC President Dr. Anthony Cruz, UWM Outreach Coordinator Jordan Kellogg and program graduates. Speakers will be available for interviews following the ceremony.

M³ (pronounced “M-Cubed”) enables eligible MPS seniors to complete high school graduation requirements while earning up to 21 college credits at no cost. Credits count toward general education requirements at UWM and MATC, giving students a head start on their college journey. This year’s class earned 1,775 credits and saved $532,650 in tuition fees. Since its launch in 2019, the program has helped nearly 800 students earn more than 10,000 college credits, saving families an estimated $3.1 million in tuition costs.

The program is just one of several ways that MPS students can earn college credit at UWM and MATC. Approximately 1,500 MPS students are currently enrolled in college-level courses with UWM and MATC.
