Media are invited to attend an event this week at UWM in advance of National Decision Day. The UWM event on April 23-24 invites admitted students to visit campus, pick up some UWM swag, tour campus and have a chance to win a $500 or $250 scholarship.
Media are invited to attend the event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 23, on UWM’s Milwaukee campus at the UWM Welcome Center, 2100 E Kenwood Blvd. Media will be able to talk with admitted students and UWM administrators, and can capture still images or video then as well. Kay Eilers, associate vice chancellor for enrollment management, will be available for interviews.
The event comes as UWM gears up to provide a more traditional college experience in Fall 2021 as the pandemic abates amid widespread vaccinations. UWM expects to go back to a much higher percentage of in-person classes and events, while putting to use the lessons learned about safety and the flexibility offered by online learning.
The event comes a week before National Decision Day on May 1, traditionally the day when high school seniors finalize their decision on which college to attend.
At the UWM event, admitted students are invited to:
- Check out Panther Pride stations and take Decision Day photos
- Explore campus with an in-person tour
- Chat with college representatives and campus departments at outdoor booths
- Take home UWM swag and a Future Panther Yard Sign
Alternatively, students can stay in their vehicle and pick up UWM swag.
The event is being held at UWM’s Milwaukee, Waukesha and Washington County campuses, but the media event is only at the Milwaukee campus.
