Mayor to join M-Cubed partners to launch FAFSA completion efforts as application debuts

Across Wisconsin, 12% fewer high school seniors completed the critical Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in 2021 compared to 2019, according to the Wisconsin Policy Forum.

M-Cubed partners — MPS, MATC and UWM — have worked together to grow FAFSA completion. While rates of completion declined during COVID-19, MPS seniors are completing FAFSA at a rate higher than the state average.

As the next application launches, the partners will announce another series of proactive efforts to encourage more students and families to take this important step.

WHY

FAFSA is the key to unlocking grants, scholarships and other forms of aid so more students from lower-income households can attend college. This is critical to improving the lives of students and their families and helping the region thrive.
