Leaders from Advocate Aurora Health, Lakefront Brewery join M³ partners and students to discuss work-based learning

MILWAUKEE _ Work-based experiences like internships and apprenticeships can offer valuable lessons to complement those learned in the classroom, helping to build a strong workforce.

M³, a partnership between UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Area Technical College and Milwaukee Public Schools, recognizes the importance that experiences outside the traditional education setting can have to help students plan for college and their future careers.

These opportunities will be the focus of the next webinar by M³ (pronounced “M-Cubed”), Building the Region’s Diverse Talent Pipeline, scheduled for February 23 at 3 p.m.

Media are invited to register at bit.ly/diversepipeline.

M³ partner Jerry Baake, manager of workforce development at Advocate Aurora Health, will lead a discussion on a panel of students and employers that will include Russ Klisch, president of Lakefront Brewery.

Staff from UWM, MATC AND MPS will discuss how students and employers can benefit from work-based learning experiences. Together, nearly 6,000 students across the three M³ institutions took part in work-based learning opportunities in 2019-20.

MPS students will describe how they used workplace learning to prepare for the future. Community members will share their experiences in providing work-based learning, the knowledge and skills gained by students, and how employers can leverage workplace learning to attract skilled candidates.
