UWM students, faculty and staff have two chances in mid-October to see films and discuss them with faculty with UWM’s Department of Film, Video, Animation and New Genres. The office hour chats will be Oct. 18 and 19 at the UWM Student Union.
Oct. 18: 5 p.m., Alumni Fireside Lounge. Assistant Professor of Film Marquise Mays will screen two short films (“The Heartland” and “Black Strings”) and discuss his processes of hometown filmmaking. Sponsored by the UWM Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Black Student Cultural Center.
Oct. 19: 6 p.m., Union Cinema. Associate Professor Portia Cobb and Assistant Professor Mays discuss the recent horror film “Nope,” directed by Jordan Peele, after a screening of the film.
