Filing period begins for 2022-23 FAFSA

The 2022-23 FAFSA filing period has started, as of Oct. 1. It is important to complete the FAFSA now because some programs have limited funds.

If students will be attending UWM in the Fall 2022 and/or Spring 2023 terms, they should complete the 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Some tips:

  • Never pay to submit a financial aid application. Be sure to go to FAFSA.gov or use the myStudentAid mobile app to apply. Select 2022-23 FAFSA. UWM’s school code is 003896.
  • Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer your 2020 federal tax information quickly and accurately. If you are unable to use the IRS tool, make sure to use your 2020 federal tax information.
