Faculty asked to submit Spring 2024 texts for eCAT initiative

The UWM Libraries are continuing its eCAT (e-Course Assigned Text) pilot program during the Spring 2024 semester and are soliciting textbook information from faculty and teaching staff. There are several ways to ascertain if the Libraries are able to acquire a text in an e-format for students to access free of charge:

  • Fill out an eCAT interest form.
  • Send an email to Marion Archer, acquisitions librarian (archerm@uwm.edu), and/or Chris Doll, library associate director for Collection and Resource Management (cmdoll@uwm.edu), with a textbook selection, and we will check if the Libraries’ vendors offer an unlimited-user e-copy for purchase. If you haven’t decided on your textbook yet and having a library-owned e-copy available to your students factors into your decision, you can send a list of several possible texts to the above emails and we can check those for you as well.
  • You can submit your textbook to the eCampus bookstore like you usually do, as we will receive a list of textbooks from the bookstore to check against our vendors. If you choose to do this, we ask that you have your textbook selection submitted to the bookstore no later than Dec. 11 (six weeks before the start of the Spring 2024 semester). If you choose this option and we find that your text is available for the library to purchase, we will email you with the direct link to the text no later than a week before the start of the semester. Please note that the bookstore will not be able to answer any questions about the eCAT initiative, as it is being managed entirely by the library.
