Event to focus on building community through stories and food cultures

An evening of food, film and connection on Feb. 26 will feature two speakers who grew up in Latin America and now use their professional work to share food cultures and build belonging in their communities. The free event runs from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center atrium.

Professor and licensed therapist Julia Roncoroni of the University of Denver, and the founder of Cocina Libre, and chef Gregory León of Amilinda restaurant in Milwaukee and a James Beard finalist will share their experiences.

The evening also includes a short documentary (40 minutes) about Cocina Libre’s impact on chef participants, and attendees will have a chance to sample light appetizers from Amilinda.
