MILWAUKEE _ Underscoring its deep research commitment, as recently acknowledged by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education R1 top-tier designation, UWM’s College of Engineering & Applied Science will host the new Milwaukee Engineering Research Conference (MERC). The conference is a two-day opportunity for federal agencies, industry and academia to come together for technical discussions to advance the nation’s research enterprise. Led by Adel Nasiri, associate dean for research, the conference features research presentations with focus on:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Biomedical and Health
- Energy and Sustainability
- Physical Infrastructure
- Water and the Environment
The MERC attests UWM’s elite Tier One Carnegie Classification status, the highest rating for a research institution. This gold standard is held by only two percent of U.S. colleges and universities.
