Changes to UWM.edu to launch on Jan. 8

UWM’s website is our university’s digital front door, welcoming not only current students and faculty and staff, but also future students and their families and the broader community.

Starting Jan. 8, UWM will launch changes to the UWM.edu website that will improve the ability to find information across the university.

The changes will feature the addition of new webpages, the redesign of existing webpages, and updated navigation menus and organization of content.

New pages: We’re introducing pages designed for future and current students to provide quick access to essential services and resources. Other new pages will focus on topics such as health and wellness, athletics and recreation, and student support.

Redesigned pages: In addition to the UWM home page, we’ve updated and reorganized key pages, including those for admission, cost, student life, housing and dining, to create a more streamlined, student-friendly experience.

Navigation and content organization

Navigation updates include a streamlined access point for students, faculty and staff to access popular UWM applications, such as Canvas, PAWS and email — directly from a new “Quicklinks” menu.

In addition, a new “Resources for You” menu will help all website visitors quickly find relevant information. The menu takes you to pages that feature links and resources for current students, such as Navigate360, and faculty and staff, such as Human Resource System (HRS).

The streamlined organization of content is different. Here are some tips on how to find your favorite UWM links:

  • If you are a student and you’re looking for something that was previously under “For Students,” check Quicklinks first. If it’s not there, check your page under Resources for You.
  • If you are a faculty or staff member and you’re looking for a link that was previously under “For Faculty/Staff,” check Quicklinks. If it’s not there, check your page under Resources for You.

For UWM to be competitive in the higher education digital landscape, it is essential that UWM.edu deliver a unified, on-brand, welcoming and inclusive experience. These efforts to enhance the online presence also support UWM’s 2030 Action Plan’s commitment to students’ academic and personal journey.

These changes to UWM.edu are part of the UWM Student-centric Web initiative and are the first of several phases of improvements to UWM’s website over the next two years.
