Candlelight walks in Downer Woods

UWM University Recreation will host two candlelight walks in Downer Woods in February that are open to students, staff, faculty and the public. Families are encouraged to participate, as well.

There will be an opportunity to donate to help cover the expenses of the event and to donate to a scholarship fund that helps students in need have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreation. Suggested donation is $5 for individuals and $10 for a family.

The trail in Downer Woods on the UWM campus will be lit with tealight candles for a pleasant, evening walk. The candlelight walk is a half-mile long, and we recommend taking 15-30 minutes to enjoy the walk through the woods. We will also have campfires and free hot chocolate (while supplies last) available at the entrance in order to provide warming stations for people to enjoy.

This year, we are offering two dates for the candelight walk: Friday, Feb. 14, and Thursday, Feb. 27. Both are open from 6-9 p.m.

RSVP to either event on Facebook: Feb. 14, Feb. 27.

Free street parking is available nearby on Downer and Edgewood avenues. The entrance to the candlelight walk is located off of Edgewood.
