A record 2,028 donors support 414 for UWM Giving Days

A record-breaking 2,028 donors joined together on April 14 and 15 to make the fifth annual 414 for UWM Giving Days a resounding success. The collective efforts of these UWM alumni, employees, students, parents and friends raised a total of $1,355,783.

“414 for UWM Giving Days was an incredible demonstration of what happens when the UWM community comes together,” said Amy Lensing Tate, assistant vice chancellor for engagement and executive director of the UWM Alumni Association. “The outpouring of support sends a powerful message about the value of UWM and directly creates opportunities for our students and programs to thrive.”

More than 30 donors sponsored challenges that unlocked more than $180,000 in matching funds once specific giving goals were met. Also, more than 80 Giving Days Advocates spread the word to friends and colleagues through social media and other channels.

This year’s 414 for UWM Giving Days also saw the debut of the Quiz Cab, which featured students answering trivia questions on rides across campus to unlock funds in support of the area of their choice.

The remarkable generosity and spirit will benefit programs and funding throughout UWM. Money raised will go toward dozens of funds to bolster student success, research excellence and community partnerships.

That includes the Panther Pathways Scholarship, which provides unrestricted scholarship funds to undergraduate students based on merit or need. During Giving Days, 194 donors gave nearly $40,000 to support the fund and the students who benefit from it.

Donors also supported causes like the Manfred Olson Planetarium, the UWM Food Pantry, Panther Athletics, and scholarships and programs throughout UWM’s schools and colleges.
