Book edited by UWM dean honored

The Reference and User Services Association has named a book edited by a UWM dean to the 2020 Outstanding Reference Sources List. Simon J. Bronner, dean of the College of General Studies, edited the “The Oxford Handbook of American Folklore and Folklife Studies,”  which included contributions from more than 40 folklorists/contributors.

The award, established in 1958, recommends “the most outstanding reference publications published the previous year for… public and academic libraries,” according to the organization, which is a division of the American Library Association. “The selected titles are valuable reference resources and are highly recommended for inclusion in any library’s reference collection,” according to the organization.

Oxford University Press published the book in 2019.  The award was announced at the American Library Association annual meeting last week.
