A city in Switzerland has adopted urban design guidelines made in Milwaukee.

Ray Isaacs, associate professor of architecture, and colleague Judith Rütsch, director of planning at Basler and Hofmann a Swiss-based firm, developed the urban planning and design strategies for the city of Rorschach on the shore of Lake Constance in Switzerland.
Developers interested in the city’s Löwenstrasse West Area approached Rohrschach officials about building there. City officials then approached Isaacs and Rütsch to help them develop recommendations for development.
Issacs and Rütsch developed a plan that would coordinate future buildings in the area as well as broader improvements in infrastructure – including connectivity, pedestrian networks, public open space, rainwater management and integration with other areas of the city.
The Rohrschach City Council recently approved the design guidelines.
