The UWM Libraries invite proposals for the 2027 Morris Fromkin Memorial Research Grant and Lecture. The $6,000 grant encourages and assists UWM scholars in all fields of study to conduct research on individuals, movements, and ideas which have influenced the quest for social justice and human rights in the United States.
Full-time UWM faculty and staff are encouraged to apply, either individually or as a group. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 8. More information is available on the Call For Proposals webpage.
The Morris Fromkin research grant and lectureship is the only UWM Libraries-funded grant that supports original research and scholarship by UWM faculty and staff. Dating back to 1970, the Morris Fromkin Memorial Lecture is the longest-running lecture series on campus. Grant recipients have come from history, art and design, economics, geography, Africology, communication, architecture, criminal justice, and many other departments and units at UWM. Hosted annually in the Golda Meir Library, the Morris Fromkin Memorial Lecture provides the grantee an opportunity to present their research to an audience of UWM colleagues and members of the greater Milwaukee community.
