UWM faculty, teaching staff and undergraduate students interested in building dialogue facilitation skills are invited to apply by Sept. 25 to join the 2026-27 cohort of At the Table.
The year-long program led by Community Empowerment & Institutional Inclusivity (CEII) that brings together instructors and students to strengthen civil dialogue at UWM. CEII is recruiting six undergraduate students and six faculty or instructional academic staff members for the next cohort of At the Table.
Each student will be paired with a faculty/staff member as their mentor. All participants will complete facilitation training during the fall semester. Student-mentor pairs will then plan and facilitate small group dialogue events for the UWM community during the spring semester.
Participants will deepen their understanding of civil dialogue while honing skills in facilitation, active listening and inclusive leadership. The program combines training with hands-on experience, allowing participants to put their learning into practice. Faculty/staff mentors will each receive a stipend of $1,000 after completion of all required activities. Students will be hired as Civil Dialogue Fellows at $14/hour for up to 75 hours.

We also welcome individual applications and will match students and mentors as needed. Our goal is to create a cohort representing a range of disciplines and UWM schools and colleges.
