Experience, Learn, Reflect: Re-Entry & Incarceration Awareness Week Nov. 3-7

Join the Center for Student Experience and Talent and The Community for a week of immersive events at UWM Nov. 3-7 that explore incarceration, re-entry and education. Events include:

Wednesday, Nov. 5

  • 2–5 p.m., Zao MKE church parking lot: Solitary Confinement Simulation mobile exhibit): Step inside a mobile truck simulating solitary confinement, guided by a facilitator, followed by a reflective debrief. Sign up link: Solitary Cell Experience
  • 6-8 p.m., Union Cinema: Reels and Reflections: Re-Entry, Incarceration, and Education: Watch segments from Degrees of Freedom, Almost Home and College Behind, then engage in facilitated discussion with panelists and a moderator. Sign up link: Reels and Reflections Screening and Panel Discussion

Thursday, Nov. 6

  • 10 a.m.–noon, Wisconsin Room, Student Union: Re-Entry Simulation: Participate in a hands-on re-entry experience with reflection and debrief. Sign up link: UW-Milwaukee Criminal Legal System Simulation
  • 5–8 p.m., Zelazo Center: Fifth Annual Community Celebration: Higher Education & Re-Entry: A ticketed event honoring individuals impacted by incarceration who have achieved success in higher education.
