As part of its 60th birthday celebration – and to honor Milwaukee radio legend Bob Reitman, its most famous staff alum – WUWM produced “Rock ‘n’ Roll Poet: A Reitman Retrospective.”
Reitman, who received a graduate degree in urban education from UWM, started his radio career in 1966 at WUWM and finished it there in April 2024. During the time in between he was a formative figure in Milwaukee’s counterculture scene and the city’s early rock radio stations. Plus, he co-hosted one of Milwaukee’s top-rated morning shows, “Reitman & Mueller,” for 24 years.
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Poet,” produced by WUWM operations director and mid-day host Lauri Jones and Lake Effect host and producer Audrey Nowakowski, explores Reitman’s life and legacy, with tons of stories, some poetry and, of course, some great tunes.
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Poet: A Reitman Retrospective” aired on 89.7 WUWM on Dec. 7 and will repeat on Friday, Dec. 20, at noon.
You can also stream it live on WUWM’s website or on the WUWM app.
