At the request of the chancellor and provost, the Office of Research has collaborated with UWM leadership across campus to enhance research integrity and ethics.
This effort resulted in the development of a new policy and comprehensive training program. The goal is to support UWM faculty and staff in upholding the highest standards of research integrity.
The research integrity trainings are mandatory for all UWM faculty and PI-approved academic staff. A deadline for training completion has been implemented, allowing faculty time to complete the training modules by June 30, 2025. Compliance with this policy will begin July 1, 2025. Non-compliance will result in holds placed on sponsored-project account setup services by the Office of Sponsored Programs.
The Research Integrity Training program is comprised of the “Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)” training through the CITI program and three internally developed training modules through Canvas. The Canvas modules were developed in collaboration with the Universities of Wisconsin Instructional Design team to support the faculty in a deeper understanding of research integrity and ethics.
