Professional development events offered for supervisors of international student workers

The Center for Student Experience and Talent (SET)  is celebrating International Student Week by offering professional development events for supervisors of international student workers. Daily workshops, panels and conversations will take place Nov. 19-22 in Vogel Hall 170.

The events will offer ways to understand your international student workers better, and develop skills to relate to them effectively.

“Helping International Student Workers Launch Their Career”

What does it take to start a career as an international student worker? Learn about immigration regulations, special timelines and resourcing that affect your international students. This workshop will lay out exactly what you can do to empower your international student workers to launch their career.

“Supporting your International Student Worker 101”

What skills do you need to support the well-being of your international student workers, and how can you develop them? This panel will help you understand the most common hurdles your students face and suggest specific action items to implement as a supervisor.

“Understanding South Asian Student Workers”

What worldview do your South Asian students bring to the workplace? What attitudes and beliefs shape them, and what are key cultural differences? This conversation will increase your self-awareness as a supervisor and provide you with actionable steps to set your students on the road to employment satisfaction.
