The annual Black Feminist Symposium kicks off at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, and runs until 3 p.m. in the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center.
The symposium aims to present the UWM campus and community with resources, workshops and engaging discussions that center the theory and practice of Black feminism in an accessible way. The theme this year is “Count It All Joy: The Act of Resistance, Black Joy and Ways to Center Gratitude.”
This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Tiffany Yvonne, an executive leadership coach, who speaks at about 10:20 a.m. The day also will feature workshops with artists, breakout sessions and community performances. Workshop facilitators include Ebony Kirkendoll of Ubuntu Research and Daync Academy, Lilo Allen of Papyrus Charms, and Tiffany Miller of Fly Blooms.
