WiscAMP STEM-Inspire Program accepting applications for 2023-24

The UWM WiscAMP STEM-Inspire Program is accepting applications through July 15 for the 2023-2024 cohort from enrolled freshman through senior students who identify as underrepresented minorities majoring in science, technology, engineering and math fields (including architecture).

These students are highly sought after for their skills and expertise, and we want to help them by forming bonds with faculty mentors and outstanding peer mentors. The program also provides a generous stipend, including funding to engage in research with a faculty preceptor as well as to attend and present at national research symposia and local conferences.

The UWM WiscAMP STEM-Inspire Program is designed to support scholars’ academic achievement, increase exposure to STEM activities, and strengthen connections with STEM faculty and staff. This academic-year program will also expose students to research and conference opportunities that build on their professional and soft skills in preparation for graduate school and employment.

The program is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Louis Stokes Alliance on Minority Participation Grant, the UWM Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the American Family Insurance Dream Fund.

Visit the STEM-Inspire website to apply or register for an upcoming virtual information session. Online applications are due by July 15, 2023, at 11:59 pm. Students are strongly encouraged to read the application cover letter, peruse the sample application form and review the frequently asked questions section of the website linked above before submitting an application.
