Ambassadors sought for 414 for UWM day

Following the success of the inaugural “414 for UWM” day, UWM is gearing up for its second-annual universitywide day of giving event. Held on Thursday, April 14, the event coincides with Milwaukee Day, where current and former residents of Milwaukee’s 414 area code celebrate the city.

During last year’s 414 for UWM event, more than 1,200 alumni, friends, faculty and staff invested in UWM, and in Milwaukee’s future, by contributing $347,064 to benefit 46 UWM programs.

In preparation for this year’s campaign, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is seeking volunteers to act as social media ambassadors, on either their personal or departmental social media platforms, to advocate on behalf of their programs.

“As we had anticipated, the schools, colleges, and programs who took an active role in promoting the first 414 for UWM giving day benefited the most from their efforts, and received significantly more financial support,” said Ana Myers, 414 for UWM program manager. “As we prepare for this year’s event, we are working to increase the number of 414 for ‘UWMbassadors’ and will support their efforts to encourage additional giving to their respective programs.”

Individual UWMbassadors will be given a custom, trackable giving link to share on personal social media pages, in addition to 414 graphics and suggested text for posts. If others make gifts using their custom link, ambassadors will receive 414 for UWM tech decals and exclusive 414 socks.  To learn more about becoming a UWMbassador, please visit dayofgiving.uwm.edu/ambassador.

Schools, colleges and programs can also share customized giving links to on their departmental social media accounts. To request custom departmental links, please contact Myers at myersam@uwm.edu or 414-229-3017.
