The Stahl Center for Jewish Studies’ 2024 Distinguished Lecture series welcomes James Loeffler to present “The Crime of Menticide: Antisemitism and Hate Speech in American Law” co-sponsored by the Honors College. Can law limit hate speech without violating the First Amendment? In this lecture, historian James Loeffler reconstructs a curious historic event and discusses its larger implications for the contemporary debate over antisemitism and free speech in American law.
