Students in this program simultaneously earn both a master’s degree in history and a Master of Library and Information Science degree (MLIS) through the School of Information Studies. The combined program shortens the length of time it would otherwise take if each degree was taken separately and is the most common choice for students interested in a career in archival work.

Similar to the requirements in the master’s program in history, students can either complete a comprehensive exam or a thesis.

Browse this web site and the UWM Graduate School’s web site for more information. We especially encourage you to explore the details of each of these programs’ requirements in the Academics section of our web site or within our handbook.
