Maria Steadmon, PhD

Dr. Maria Steadmon is a postdoctoral research associate in the McLellan Lab at the School of Freshwater Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in oceanography from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where her doctoral research focused on the detection and modeling of bacterial pathogens across watersheds. She also worked with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health on their wastewater surveillance program. Her current role in the McLellan Lab focuses on investigating microbial communities throughout wastewater treatment plants and identifying potential sources of pollution at beaches across Southeastern Wisconsin using microbial source tracking.
