Christie Peters, serves as the Director for the Office of Clinical Experiences. She oversees operation of the Office of Clinical Experiences and strives to provide high quality clinical experiences, in diverse urban communities that supports UWM teacher candidates' learning. In addition, Peters is the Certification Officer for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s (UWM) teacher certification and licensing programs.  As the Certification Officer, she coordinates and manages the procedures for licensure for the School of Library & Information Studies, Peck School of the Arts, Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, College of Health Sciences, and the School of Education. She serves as UWM’s liaison to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin school districts, out-of-state education departments, Educational Testing Services, as well as other agencies, to communicate and exchange information regarding teachers, PK-12 administrators and pupil service professionals.

Prior to her role in the Office of Clinical Experiences, Peters helped prepare pre-service teachers as she served as the Elementary Education Program Director at UWM. She taught undergraduate courses, supervised student teachers and mentored students while they worked towards certification.  Before coming to UWM, Peters taught elementary students in Milwaukee Public Schools for ten years and served as a literacy interventionist for the Literacy and Math Center at Cardinal Stritch University. Peters received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her masters degree in Reading and Learning Disabilities from Cardinal Stritch University.
