Turning Pages, Building Connections
Facilitated book discussions exploring thought-provoking topics that foster learning and build community.
Each fall and spring semester, UWM employees are invited to participate in a shared reading experience and a series of facilitated conversations. The virtual book discussion provides an opportunity to reflect on themes and questions raised by the text, as well as to build connections with colleagues across campus.
The discussion group typically meets four times via Zoom during the semester. Discussions are co-led by Community Empowerment & Institutional Inclusivity (CEII) staff and campus partners. A limited number of copies of the selected book are available from CEII, or participants may purchase their own copy.
Whether you’re drawn to the selected book, the opportunity for dialogue, or the chance to get to know colleagues from different parts of the university, we invite you to join the conversation.
Current Semester’s Book and Schedule
The Fall 2026 book discussion features Generations: The Real Differences between Gen Z, Millenials, Gen X, Boomers, and Silents—and What They Mean for America’s Future, by Jean M. Twenge. Drawing on a wealth of survey data, the book explores how American generations differ in their life experiences, beliefs, and behaviors. In particular, the author examines how technology drives generational change, and what this implies for the future.

- Thursday, Oct. 8, 11am–12 noon
- Thursday, Oct. 29, 11am–12 noon
- Thursday, Nov. 12, 11am–12 noon
Registration is open through Friday, Sept. 4, and the Zoom meeting link will be sent to those who register by the due date.
