Chancellor’s Update: May 6 Town Hall Meeting with UWM Leaders

Dear Parents and Panther Families,

During these unparalleled times of COVID-19, we understand that uncertainty and ever-changing circumstances can be disconcerting. Please join me, Provost Johannes Britz, Chief Student Affairs Officer Kelly Haag, Campus Health Officer Dr. Julia Bonner, Director of Student Success Kay Eilers, and Financial Aid Director Tim Opgenorth for a Microsoft Teams Live parent town hall meeting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. A similar town hall meeting will be held for students on May 5 and we ask that you encourage your students to participate.

We will share the latest plans and actions taken in response to COVID-19, including information about academics, our campuses, and financial support for students such as the grants we have been administering via the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

As parents and Panther Families members, your voices are important. I invite your questions, which can be shared in advance or asked online during the parent town hall by sending to: uwm-townhall@uwm.edu. We have created a FAQ resource that is updated daily on the UWM coronavirus webpage. Please check this comprehensive resource before submitting a town hall question; there are hundreds of answers available just a few clicks away.

Please join the parent town hall meeting here on May 6th at 4 p.m. The same link can be used for viewing the meeting at a later time if you are unable to watch it live.

Need some help with Microsoft Teams? There’s no need to download anything. Here are the steps to view a Microsoft Teams event.

Please know that your students are important to us and we are doing everything we can to support them.

Best Regards,

Mark A. Mone, PhD
