Adobe Flash Support Ending December 2020

On December 31, 2020, Adobe will discontinue Flash, which is a technology used to display interactive activities and play video in web pages. Adobe has been discouraging the use of Flash for years, and UW-Milwaukee does not widely support the use of tools which will be affected by the Flash end-of-life. The vast majority of our students and instructors will experience no change in their course experience.

In December and January, Adobe Flash will be automatically removed from Chrome, Edge Chromium and Firefox.

Students: In rare cases, you may be unable to play back Flash videos or presentations which are used in courses. If you experience problems with accessing course materials, contact your instructor who may be able to quickly resolve the issue. If they are unable to resolve the issue, contact the UWM Help Desk for assistance.

Instructors: If you find that you’re using Flash and are unable to provide a non-flash version to your students, you are welcome to contact CETL or your school/college Canvas support for assistance.
