Areas of Expertise

Dr. Swenson’s research is in financial reporting. More specifically, she is interested in understanding how institutional features affect managers’ implementation of accounting standards both within the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Swenson has experience teaching introductory, intermediate and advanced financial accounting courses.

Professional Activities

Dr. Swenson is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also has worked as an auditor in the Des Moines office of Deloitte & Touche LLP and served as an audit committee member for the City of Dunwoody.
