Areas of Expertise

Dr. Freeman’s research is in organization redesign and large-scale organizational change, particularly under conditions of decline or threat. She developed models of organization downsizing to predict different approaches taken and their results. Sarah also produced work in leadership, managerial interpretation, and team effectiveness. She has taught at the undergraduate, masters, executive, and doctoral levels, including courses in Leadership, Transforming Organizations, Managing in a Dynamic Environment, Strategy, and Critical and Analytical Thinking.

Professional Activities

Dr. Freeman’s work has appeared in Organization Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Executive, and Human Relations, as well as numerous other journals and books. She served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Executive, and Journal of Business Ethics. Her service within Lubar College of Business includes time as Associate Dean of Executive Programs, Associate Dean of Masters Programs, and MBA Faculty Director. She served as faculty adviser to several student organizations.
